Overview
As large scale manufacturing takes place a level of inspection and statistical analysis is required to ensure the of parts meet customer expectations. In order to avoid full inspection of each part manufacturers may utilize techniques such as standard deviation analyses to establish statistical characteristics about their inventory to ensure quality and accuracy.
Involvement
When parts and tools are inspected by quality engineering and are found to be beyond acceptable limits design engineering may be employed to analyze the part to ensure it still meets its function. My involvement in this process has been the analysis of part and tooling dimensional deviations to determine if the part may still meet design requirement(s) or if a repair may bring the part back to operable status.
